A New Spring Garden for a New Home
At the beginning of April, Bryan and I were able to swap apartments after dealing with some unwelcome guests (egh-slugs!!!) in our last apartment.
To celebrate our new home and the wonderful spring weather we were finally able to enjoy, I started decorating my home with a beautiful new garden.

(A beautiful mixed "bucket" of Spring blooms!)
I thought it would be best to enjoy a few bulb plants not only so I could enjoy them for next year but they'd be easier to move should Bryan and I decide to relocate. In my "bucket of blossoms" I was able to enjoy some brilliant yellow daffodils, cheeky pink hyacinth, and some winning claret tulips! I'll be the first to admit that I had never held daffodils and tulips in high regards, but after being to enjoy these lovely gals, I have changed my entire opinion!
Narcissus sp.
Tulipa
Hyacinthus orientalis
As wonderful as this these flowers are, I saw yet another plants that I knew immediately that I had to have! A dwarf rhododendron.
Now it might seems weird that I would want a rhododendron but these flowering bushes have a very significant meaning to me. My great aunt Annie once owned a rhododendron that was as tall as her single story house. My grandmother photographed me and my siblings in front of that rhododendron along with Aunt Annie, and she cherished that photograph for years.
My grandmother also had her own rhododendron that she both loved and hated. It grew right outside of her dinning room window and she spent half of the summer enjoying the blooms, and the other half cursing all the light the big green leaves were blocking out of her house! A rhododendron will always make me think of her.
Rododendro Purple Gem
That's why when I saw this dreamy purple gem, I knew it was just right for my new home. My grandmother would have loved seeing this little house warming garden.
(New leaves already!)
