Cactus Garden

Pinterest is a wonderful tool. it dynamic, interactive, energetic, and imaginative. It also can cause creative depression.

When I'm not slowly dissolving into a puddle of "Why can't I do that?!" - i'm gathering ideas on new planting techniques, unique terrariums, and beneficial house plants.

Since I built my terrariums last year, I've been interested in doing more. I've especially been interested in cactus and succulents. Some of the ideas involving sand in terrariums have been especially intriguing, so I decide to make on for myself.

Since I lost my Medusa air plant for my beach themed terrarium, I've been looking for a solution to filling in the terrarium. A cactus garden seemed to fill that gap.

So I swung by my local Lowe's store right before a doctor's appointment to check out my selection. And what a selection! The place was crawling with succulents and cacti in all shapes and sizes.

My first round picks from Lowe's

Some of the cacti I recognized, like the prickly pear and the donkey's tail, but the others were unknown to me. But I was looking to mix colors and shapes to create an attractive terrarium. A bit of sand, gravel and cactus dirt, and I was ready to build myself a garden of spiky demon plants.

Finished product

Ta-Da! The final product isn't going to get a 1000 pins but it does make a nice little corner in my house on my bookcase. I took a few scraps for this garden, but thorns are what makes it interesting,
